Please find below the details on a proposal for a solar farm in West Dorset. The developers have contacted us as supporters of renewable energy and the sustainability agenda, to respectfully ask for support, to help them get the planning permission needed.
The project forms a major part of their ambitions to contribute meaningfully to the security of energy supply in Dorset, through the provision of local, affordable renewable energy supply. They have recently received planning consent for a similar 40MW scheme at South Farm, Spetisbury.
The main features of the proposal are as follows:
• Plans to install a ground mounted solar farm at Clifton Farm which will have a maximum output of 35MW
• At Clifton Farm the solar farm would generate enough energy to power up to 10,605 UK homes a year and displace circa 11,610 tonnes of carbon dioxide
• The solar farms’ grid connection will make use of an existing electrical network that run through Clifton Farm
• Plans include providing land for ecological mitigation and enhancement
• The full details of the planning applications can be found at https://planning.dorset.gov.uk... (input planning application reference number: WD/D/20/001057).
Feedback needs to be sent to Dorset Council by Tuesday 16th June.
Further information and a draft letter can be found below.
PLEASE NOTE:
Zero Carbon Dorset has not undertaken a detailed review of the proposal and, as such, cannot comment on the wider impacts of this development. However, it is generally accepted that to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change we will have to compromise on some aspects of these developments. You are encouraged to undertake your own research. In the event that you agree with the development the developers have provided a template you can use to submit your views before Tuesday 16th June.
